Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 developer Treyarch Studios has confirmed that some skins and weapon blueprints will carry forward from last year's entry in the series, Black Ops 6. The ability to carry forward cosmetic items has been a hugely divisive topic among Black Ops 7 fans, which recently led to Activision and Treyarch scrapping the feature entirely. While it was previously said that only Double XP tokens and Gobblegums would be brought forward into this year's Call of Duty, Treyarch now appears to have altered those plans once again in an attempt to keep players happy.
When Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was first revealed earlier this year, publisher Activision and developer Treyarch stated that all cosmetic items, weapon blueprints, Double XP tokens, and Gobblegums would carry forward from 2024's Black Ops 6. However, after some intense backlash from the Call of Duty community due to the sheer number of unrealistic cosmetics in last year's shooter, the studios decided to reverse their decision and revealed that they would only allow Double XP tokens and Gobblegums to carry forward with the game's first season. However, some fans took issue with this due to certain skins being rewards for easter eggs and some serious in-game grinding.
Some Black Ops 6 Skins Will Carry Forward to Black Ops 7
A large portion of the community agrees that it doesn't want to see some of Call of Duty's silliest skins, such as Roger from American Dad or the Beavis & Butt-Head operators, carry forward to Black Ops 7. However, there are certain cosmetics they would like to see transfer between titles. Thankfully, Treyarch appears to have heard the requests loud and clear, as it has now announced that all four main quest operator skins for Black Ops 6 Zombies will now transfer to Black Ops 7 at launch. The studio also says that the rare "New Orders" prestige level 1000 operator skin and the Guild Override camo will also be available in Black Ops 7 on day one.
This is great news for Zombies players, and is just the latest change that continues to prove Treyarch's dedication to community feedback. After the studio announced its decision to reverse the Carry Forward feature, fans quickly took issue with some of the Vault Edition skins for Black Ops 7. Earlier this week, Treyarch once again made a big change, altering the T.E.D.D. skin to appear more like the original character from Black Ops 2. The studio also seemingly hinted that it would be adjusting more Vault Edition skins based on community feedback, but they have yet to be revealed.
For the first time in four years, Call of Duty and Battlefield will be going head-to-head this year. After the disastrous launch of Battlefield 2042 in 2021, EA and DICE are attempting to right their wrongs with the launch of Battlefield 6 on October 10. While the shooter's open beta was a big hit with fans, all of Treyarch Studios' Black Ops 7 changes will likely make some fans think twice about jumping ship.
