Xbox Game Pass Leak Hints at New ‘Starter Edition’ Subscription Tier

A new leak suggests that Xbox Game Pass could soon expand its offerings with a more affordable subscription option called the “Starter Edition.” The rumored tier is expected to provide a budget-friendly entry point for gamers while still offering access to a selection of popular titles.

According to reports shared on social media, the upcoming Starter Edition may be bundled with Discord Nitro, giving users additional perks beyond gaming. The leak indicates that subscribers could receive limited access to Xbox Cloud Gaming—reportedly around 10 hours per month—along with a curated library of over 50 games. Titles such as Fallout 4 and Stardew Valley are expected to be part of the offering.

Currently, Discord Nitro is priced similarly to the existing Xbox Game Pass tiers, which raises questions about how the Starter Edition will be positioned against current plans. This leak follows recent pricing changes, where Microsoft reduced the cost of its PC and Ultimate Game Pass tiers. However, those adjustments came with a trade-off—future Call of Duty titles will no longer launch on Game Pass on day one, instead arriving about a year later.

Looking ahead, Xbox may continue to experiment with its subscription model. Rumors also suggest a customizable “build-your-own plan” feature, allowing users to add benefits like extra game time or access to streaming services such as Netflix.

While these leaks are yet to be officially confirmed, they point toward a strategic shift as Xbox aims to attract more users with flexible and affordable options. With several changes already underway, 2026 could be a major year for the evolution of Xbox Game Pass.
