Gamescom 2026 is set to make history as the largest edition of the gaming exhibition to date, with organizers reporting record numbers across exhibitors, international participation, exhibition space, and the indie gaming segment.

Koelnmesse and the German Games Industry Association have confirmed that more than 1,600 exhibitors will participate in this year's event. Around 70% of exhibitors are coming from outside Germany, with companies and organizations from 67 countries expected to take part. This marks an increase from the 1,568 exhibitors recorded at Gamescom 2025.

International representation has also reached a new high. Gamescom 2026 will feature 47 national pavilions representing 40 states, compared with 40 pavilions from 35 countries last year. Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Morocco, and Nigeria will make their first appearances with dedicated national pavilions.

The event is also breaking records in physical scale. Gamescom 2026 will occupy approximately 233,000 square meters of exhibition space, which has been completely sold out. Visitor demand is similarly strong, with Saturday tickets and several special ticket categories already sold out ahead of the event.

Indie Gaming Takes a Bigger Role

One of the biggest areas of growth is the indie section. More than 420 companies are expected to showcase hundreds of games, representing a 16% increase from the 364 developers featured in the indie area in 2025.

The expansion highlights the growing presence of independent developers at one of the world's largest gaming events. Gamescom organizers are positioning the indie area as an important platform for projects created outside the traditional large-budget development model.

Opening Night Live Leads the Online Program

Gamescom 2026 will also feature an extensive online program, giving audiences around the world access to major announcements and showcases.

One of the key events will be Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live, scheduled for August 25 at 9:00 PM Moscow time.

With record participation, a sold-out exhibition floor, expanding international representation, and a significantly larger indie presence, Gamescom 2026 is shaping up to be one of the event's most ambitious editions yet.
