Bethesda has officially revealed the PlayStation 5 version of Starfield, bringing several exclusive features that fully utilize the DualSense controller. Players on PS5 can expect immersive gameplay enhancements like adaptive trigger resistance during combat and dynamic light bar feedback that changes based on health status. The controller’s touchpad will also enable quick menu navigation, while the built-in speaker can play in-game voice logs for added realism.
Starfield is set to launch on PS5 on April 7, alongside the Terran Armada expansion and the free Free Lanes update, which will be available to all players regardless of DLC ownership. Despite being an Xbox exclusive for nearly three years, the game has already climbed into the top five of PlayStation Store pre-orders, just behind Crimson Desert.
PS5 Pro users will get additional graphical enhancements with exclusive Pro Visual and Pro Performance modes powered by PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR). The Pro Visual mode targets 4K resolution at 30 FPS, while Pro Performance aims for smoother gameplay at 60 FPS. Standard PS5 users will still have multiple performance options similar to Xbox Series X/S versions.
According to Bethesda’s Todd Howard, the PS5 release has been planned for a long time, emphasizing the studio’s strong relationship with PlayStation. With this launch, alongside new content updates, April 7 marks a major moment for both new and returning Starfield players.
