Star Wars fans have a new reason to be excited as the upcoming strategy game Star Wars: Zero Company has officially confirmed the appearance of Anakin Skywalker.

Developed by Bit Reactor in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment, Star Wars: Zero Company is a turn-based tactical game set during the Clone Wars era. The title has drawn comparisons to the popular XCOM series thanks to its squad-based combat, strategic gameplay, and permanent consequences for battlefield decisions.

During Summer Game Fest 2026, a brand-new trailer revealed fresh gameplay details and confirmed that the game will launch on August 27 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. While the release date had leaked ahead of the event, the trailer still delivered a major surprise for Star Wars fans.

The biggest reveal came at the end of the trailer when Anakin Skywalker made a dramatic appearance. Since the game takes place during the Clone Wars, players will encounter Anakin before his transformation into Darth Vader. Although developers have not yet revealed the extent of his role in the story, his inclusion has already sparked excitement across the Star Wars community.

In addition to Anakin's reveal, the trailer showcased several gameplay features. Players can build and customize their own squad, upgrade weapons, command droids, and utilize powerful Force abilities during tactical battles. The game also features permadeath mechanics, meaning every decision on the battlefield could have lasting consequences.

With no new XCOM title currently on the horizon, Star Wars: Zero Company is shaping up to be an exciting alternative for strategy fans while offering a fresh experience within the Star Wars universe.

The game joins a growing lineup of upcoming Star Wars releases, including Star Wars: Galactic Racer, which is scheduled to launch later this year. Together, these titles highlight Lucasfilm's continued push to expand the Star Wars gaming universe across multiple genres.
