Overwatch players now have a brand-new reason to jump back into the action as the latest Junkrat’s Loot Hunt event officially goes live. The limited-time event brings double Battle Pass XP rewards along with multiple free Loot Boxes, making this one of the most rewarding weekends for fans so far.
The event is available from May 8 to May 12 and allows players to unlock up to nine Loot Boxes simply by playing matches. Blizzard has also added a major bonus this time around by doubling Battle Pass XP earned through gameplay, helping players level up much faster before the upcoming mid-season update arrives.
The progression system for Junkrat’s Loot Hunt follows the same challenge structure seen in recent events. Players earn one Loot Box after completing five matches, while victories and Stadium mode games count as double progress. However, each reward tier must be completed before progressing to the next, meaning extra match progress will not carry forward.
The double XP boost only applies to Battle Pass XP earned through matches. Normally, players receive around 700 to 1,000 XP per game, with additional bonuses awarded for wins, longer matches, grouping up with friends, and selecting high-demand roles. With the event bonus active, players can easily earn more than 2,000 Battle Pass XP from a single successful match.
The timing of this event is especially important as it leads directly into the upcoming Reign of Talon Season 2 mid-season update expected on May 12. The update is rumored to introduce several new additions, including the arrival of Jetpack Cat in Stadium mode and Ra Ana’s new Mythic skin entering the in-game shop.
Blizzard is also expected to roll out fresh balance changes, including more adjustments for Sierra, the newest DPS hero introduced during Season 2. With Season 3 slowly approaching, players are already beginning to speculate about the next upcoming hero, with recent leaks hinting at another Damage character inspired by Cassidy’s playstyle.
For Overwatch fans looking to level up quickly and collect extra rewards, this weekend may be the perfect opportunity to grind matches before the next major update arrives.
