The popular Entropy: Zero mod series is getting a brand-new installment with Entropy: Zero 2 – Progenitors, offering a fresh take on the Half-Life universe through stealth-based gameplay.
Unlike previous entries that focused on Combine soldiers, Progenitors places players in the role of an elite Combine assassin, blending stealth, action, and immersive-sim mechanics as they hunt targets across occupied Earth.
Set after the Seven Hour War, the story follows a mysterious operative assigned to eliminate a rogue Progenitor—an important figure connected to the origins of the Combine's military forces. The game also expands Half-Life lore while drawing inspiration from classic expansions like Opposing Force.
Gameplay promises far more than traditional shooting. Early developer footage showcases mechanics such as pickpocketing enemies, distraction tools, stealth takedowns, and environmental interactions, giving players multiple ways to approach missions in true immersive-sim fashion.
The project continues the series' tradition of blending Half-Life's atmosphere with creative storytelling, featuring striking environments and visual nods to Valve's iconic universe.
Although Entropy: Zero 2 – Progenitors currently has no official release date, the developers have confirmed that production is progressing despite earlier development challenges. For Half-Life fans looking for a fresh perspective on the franchise, this ambitious prequel is shaping up to be one of the community's most exciting fan-made projects.
