Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI is officially still on schedule, according to Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick. During a recent earnings call, Zelnick confirmed that GTA 6 is still targeting its November 19, 2026 release date and is not expected to face another delay. This update is likely the final major confirmation before Rockstar officially opens pre-orders for the game.
Since its announcement in late 2023, GTA 6 has experienced two major delays, with the latest pushing the release to November 2026. Rockstar’s recent silence had sparked speculation among fans about a possible third delay, but Zelnick dismissed those concerns and reassured players that development remains on track.
The CEO also addressed recent rumors claiming that GTA 6 pre-orders would begin in mid-May 2026 through retailers like Best Buy. Zelnick stated that the information was inaccurate and explained that pre-orders are typically launched alongside a full-scale marketing campaign. According to him, Rockstar’s major GTA 6 marketing push is still planned for summer 2026, suggesting pre-orders could begin sometime between late June and September.
Fans are now expecting Rockstar to intensify promotion with the release of GTA 6’s third trailer, which is rumored to finally showcase gameplay footage. While the first two trailers mainly introduced the game’s setting and protagonists, the next reveal is expected to provide a closer look at gameplay systems, including the HUD, character-switching mechanics, and other core features.
Rockstar may also reveal the game’s online multiplayer mode separately, similar to how Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online were promoted. Based on Rockstar’s previous release strategy, the multiplayer reveal for GTA 6 could arrive closer to launch, potentially during fall 2026.
At launch, GTA 6 will only be available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S. Rockstar has not officially announced a PC version yet, though many expect it to arrive sometime after the console release based on the studio’s past release patterns.
