Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta Begins This August

Activision has officially announced the open beta schedule for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, giving players an early chance to experience the next chapter of the iconic shooter franchise before its October 23, 2026 release.

Players who pre-order the game will receive Early Access to the beta from August 21–25, while the Open Beta will run from August 28 to September 1 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The Nintendo Switch 2 version will only be available during the open beta period.

The beta introduces a wide range of multiplayer content, including brand-new Operators, 19 unlockable weapons, 3v3 skirmishes, large-scale tactical battles with vehicles, the return of Search & Destroy, a new Training Mobility Course, and the debut of Kill Block.

One of the biggest highlights is Kill Block, a dynamic multiplayer map that reconfigures itself between rounds. Built using modular sections, the battleground can generate over 500 different layouts, forcing players to constantly adapt their strategies and positioning.

Players who digitally pre-order the game will also gain one week of early access to the single-player campaign, which is set on the Korean Peninsula and follows a new conflict between North and South Korea. Alongside traditional multiplayer, the popular DMZ extraction mode also returns.

After mixed reactions to the previous Modern Warfare entries, Infinity Ward is aiming to win back players with improved movement, refined gameplay, and fresh multiplayer innovations. The upcoming beta will offer the first real opportunity for the community to see whether the series is ready for a comeback.
