The Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 open beta period has officially been extended by an additional 24 hours. Developer Treyarch Studios took to Twitter on October 6, just two days before the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 playtest was due to come to an end, and announced the extension. Alongside the news that fans will have an extra day to play the next installment in the Call of Duty series, Treyarch also released an update for the beta, adding a brand-new map for players to test.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7's open beta hasn't quite soared to the heights that Battlefield 6's did on Steam, but the test appears to have been a huge success for Treyarch and Activision. Shortly after the beta went live, Treyarch revealed that fans would be able to check out a new "Open Moshpit" playlist, featuring classic matchmaking similar to older Call of Duty titles, such as Black Ops 2 and Modern Warfare 2, among others. This is something fans have been requesting for over half a decade now, and its inclusion in the Black Ops 7 beta appears to have gone over brilliantly with the majority of the community.

Treyarch Extends Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Beta

As this is a beta, there's no word on whether the minimal skill-based matchmaking playlist will be included in the full game, but Treyarch is giving fans more time to test it out. In a new post on Twitter, the studio confirmed that it would be extending the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta from its original end date of Wednesday, October 8, to Thursday, October 9 at 9 AM PT. Treyarch has also extended 2XP + 2X Weapon XP through the rest of the beta to help everyone reach level 30 and try out all of the new weapons and gear before the full release in November.

Alongside news of the extension, Treyarch also released a new update for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta, adding another map to the Multiplayer rotation. From now until October 9, players can check out Toshin (the latest addition), Blackheart, Cortex, Exposure, Imprint, and The Forge, while Zombies players can continue to play Vandorn Farm until the end of the beta. As for Multiplayer playlists, Treyarch has confirmed that Open Moshpit, Moshpit, Open Hardcore Moshpit, Search & Destroy, and Training Course will remain available.

From a gameplay standpoint, fans appear to be loving the latest Call of Duty, but Activision is using the beta to test more than just the game itself. With cheaters becoming a significant problem in all multiplayer PC titles, the publisher is continually updating its Ricochet anti-cheat systems. Although some have managed to infiltrate lobbies with hacks enabled, Activision recently boasted that fewer than 1% of cheaters made it into a Black Ops 7 beta match. For those who did manage to get into a match, Activision says they were stopped within 30 minutes of signing in.
