Borderlands 4 Reveals New Details About Post-Launch Content for 2025

Borderlands 4 is set to deliver exciting post-launch content in 2025, featuring new missions, characters, and story expansions for fans worldwide.
Oct 13, 2025

Borderlands 4 fans will soon have more content to check out, as the game's first seasonal event, Horrors of Kairos, will go live on October 23 with plenty of rewards for players to earn. Borderlands 4 also confirmed that the game's first Invincible Boss, the plant-like Bloomreaper, will arrive in another free update sometime in December.

Despite its rough launch, Borderlands 4 has continued to release patches to address performance issues and bugs that have been problematic for several weeks. Alongside the bug fix patches are some game balance updates for each of Borderlands 4's Vault Hunters. While these adjustments should make some builds and skills more powerful than before, some unintended builds will be dialed back. Starting with the October 16 patch, some of Borderlands 4's most popular builds will be significantly nerfed from their current state, including Vex's infinite damage build that garnered attention on social media.

Borderlands 4 Players Will Have Free and Paid Content Through the Rest of 2025

Though Borderlands 4 is just coming off its first October update, players will soon have more free content to consume. Starting October 23, the Horrors of Kairos seasonal event will be available for all Borderlands 4 players to experience for free. The Horrors of Kairos will end on November 6, and players will have a chance to claim a new Murmur Legendary Tediore Assault Rifle and Skully Legendary Order Grenade via world boss drops. While Horrors of Kairos is active, all world boss encounters will change the weather to blood rain. Additionally, some SHiFT codes will be revealed by Gearbox during Horrors of Kairos that will grant special Pumpkin Head cosmetics to all Vault Hunters, along with a Hex Appeal Weapon Skin that can be applied to any weapon in the game.

Gearbox encouraged Borderlands 4 players to check its social media pages for these SHiFT codes at a later date. The developers also gave players another look at the game's first roadmap, which spans Q4 2025 and Q1 2026. Borderlands 4's first Bounty Pack paid DLC, titled How Rush Saved Mercenary Day, will launch on November 20. The Bounty Pack will be available as an individual purchase or included with Borderlands 4's Deluxe and Super Deluxe Editions at no additional cost. December will see another free update for Borderlands 4, as the game's first Invincible Boss, Bloomreaper, will appear along with new Legendary Weapons and an additional Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode (UVHM) level.

Additional Borderlands 4 content, including C4SH the Vault Hunter and the second Bounty Pack, will arrive in early 2026. All in all, players will have swathes of content and plenty of bosses to mow down in the weeks ahead.
