Battlefield 6 and REDSEC Confirm Battle Royale Solos Mode; Nightfall Update Detailed

Battlefield Studios has officially confirmed that the highly requested Battle Royale Solos mode will be available for testing in Battlefield REDSEC from March 6 to March 9. The announcement comes alongside new updates and improvements planned for Battlefield 6 following the launch of Season 2.

After the strong launch of Battlefield 6 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC last October, the game saw mixed reactions from the community during its first season. In response to player feedback, Battlefield Studios delayed Season 2 by a month to refine and polish the content before releasing it on February 17.

Now, with Season 2 live, the studio has shared further details about gameplay monitoring, progression balancing, and upcoming content for both Battlefield 6 and its free-to-play counterpart, Battlefield REDSEC.

REDSEC Battle Royale Solos Mode Testing: March 6–9

The long-awaited Solos mode will be introduced through Battlefield Labs, the studio’s large-scale testing program. Unlike previous Labs sessions that required applications, this Solos playtest will be open to all players.

Key differences in Solos mode compared to Duos and Quads include:

• No squad revives
• No redeploy towers
• Second Chance mechanic remains enabled
• Missions redesigned for single-player completion
• Adjusted XP scaling for Class Training Paths
• Vehicles, including tanks, remain enabled

Keeping combat vehicles active will allow developers to evaluate pacing and late-game balance within a solo environment.

Nightfall Update Launching March 17

Battlefield Studios also revealed more information about the upcoming Nightfall update, scheduled to release on March 17.

Nightfall will introduce a new nighttime map designed to shift how players move, communicate, and read the battlefield. Reduced visibility and tighter sightlines will increase the importance of sound cues, while Nightvision Goggles will play a crucial role in navigating the darker environment.

Progression and Gameplay Improvements

The March 17 update will also focus on overall experience improvements, including:

• Faster and more consistent Weapon Mastery progression
• Reduced grind in progression systems
• Refinements to the ping system for better clarity
• Reduced visual noise
• Improved squad readability

Battlefield Studios stated that these changes are aimed at improving gameplay flow and directly addressing community feedback.

With the addition of Solos mode testing and the immersive Nightfall update, both Battlefield 6 and REDSEC are entering a significant phase focused on enhancing player engagement and long-term stability.
