ARC Raiders is set to receive a major visual upgrade for PlayStation 5 Pro users, and the best part—it comes at no additional cost. As part of the upcoming 1.26 update, players on the PS5 Pro will benefit from an enhanced version of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), a machine-learning-powered upscaling technology designed to deliver sharper and more detailed visuals.
Originally launched in October 2025, ARC Raiders quickly emerged as one of the standout releases of the year. Developed by Embark Studios, the game gained traction within the extraction shooter genre, drawing comparisons to titles like Escape from Tarkov. While player activity has slightly stabilized in recent months, ongoing updates continue to enhance the overall gameplay experience.
The 1.26 update, scheduled for April 28, introduces significant improvements to image clarity on the PS5 Pro. The upgraded PSSR technology works by analyzing visuals at a pixel level, reconstructing higher-quality frames with improved sharpness and stability. Players can expect noticeable enhancements, particularly in visually dense environments where detail and performance are critical.
In addition to improved clarity, the latest PSSR version reduces common visual issues such as flickering, shimmering, and ghosting effects. Dynamic elements, including weather systems like rain, are expected to appear more natural and refined due to better handling of transparency and motion.
It is important to note that this upgrade is exclusive to PS5 Pro users. Players on the standard PlayStation 5 will continue using Temporal Super Resolution (TSR), with no changes to their current visual settings.
Alongside the visual upgrade, ARC Raiders will also introduce its highly anticipated Riven Tides update—its most substantial content expansion to date. This update features a new map and introduces a fresh enemy known as the ARC Turbine, adding new challenges and gameplay depth.
With consistent post-launch support and a growing roadmap, Embark Studios continues to invest in the long-term success of ARC Raiders. If this update cadence continues, 2026 could be a defining year for the game and its community.
